On iPhone, a simple way to see if the device is jailbroken, is by searching for an app called Cydia (see photo)
If this app is installed on the phone, that means the device has been jailbroken.

On Android, go to Settings > About Phone > Status > Phone Status.
If it says anything other than Official under phone status, then the phone has been Rooted.
